This is a one-day microscopy course for beginners. The areas that will be covered are Dissection and Compound Microscopes, Disease Investigation, Dissection of Alimentary System and Preparing Pollen Slides from flower/samples/pollen loads. Equipment for this course will be provided.

Intermediate Microscopy - Two-day course - Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th February 2025
This is a two-day microscopy course for intermediate candidates who are preparing for the BBKA Microscopy Assessment.
The areas that will be covered are Disease Diagnosis Acarine and Nosema, Pollen Slide Preparation, Abdominal Dissection, Alimentary System and Central Nervous System, Sting, Heart and Anatomical Slides
You will need to provide your own equipment for this course.
Cost: £165.00 per person
Honey Bee Health: Train the Trainer - One day course Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th April 2025
The Honey Bee Health Certificate is a practical qualification which makes a major contribution to improving beekeeper practice.
This one-day course is for BBKA members who are experienced beekeepers wishing to run a Honey Bee Health course locally. Participants should have passed the Honey Bee Health certificate themselves. The emphasis in the session will be on recent and relevant content and how to meet the needs of a variety of beekeepers you encounter locally.
Participants will leave with the resources necessary to run a Honey Bee Health course which can be adapted to their own situation.
You will need to bring a clean bee suit and boots for this course.
Cost: £35 per person
Queen Rearing: Train the Trainer - One day course Saturday 24th/Sunday 25th May Saturday 14th/Sunday 15th June 2025
This one-day course is for BBKA members who are experienced beekeepers wishing to run a queen rearing course for their local association.
Participants must have previous experience of queen rearing. This course is not suitable for beginners. Participants should have the knowledge and skills to raise queens having already raised sufficient queens for their own colonies and improved their own stock.
The emphasis in the session will be on recent and relevant content and how to meet the needs of a variety of beekeepers you encounter locally.
Participants will leave with the resources necessary to run a queen rearing course locally which can be adapted to their own situation.
You will need to bring a clean bee suit and boots for this course.
