January Winter Feed

Checking the colonies at this time of the year, January, is essential – just heft the hives to get an idea of the colonies’ stores. If necessary feed – give them a New Year slab of fondant. Only open-up briefly, long enough to slap the fondant on over the frames where the bees are – don’t be tempted to fiddle with them – they will loose too much heat. The first images are of a colony that has just died-out, very sad to see this.
